RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

New ideas for higher and higher-performing products

At SRT, railway vehicles are designed by our team of engineers. Thanks to our constant innovation and research into leading-edge solutions, in partnership with our research and development division, we prepare today for the market’s needs of tomorrow. This is reflected in high-performing, flexible, modular products with a particular focus on improving safety and production efficiency.

Partnership with the Salcef Group companies reinforces this process, as we benefit from direct feedback from worksites, fundamental for the development of innovative solutions. With this approach, we can test and perfect our products in real conditions, ensuring that even new models are effective and reliable from the word go. Thanks to this synergy, many of our technologies have been patented, underlining our ongoing commitment to innovation and quality.

LINES OF RESEARCH

At SRT, research and development are conducted in accordance with clear guidelines, intended to continually improve our products and services in the following main areas.

RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE

We work to develop flexible solutions, designed to adapt to different operating situations. This guarantees high performance and improves efficiency in the field, increasing our customers’ trust in our systems.

QUALITY AND COST REDUCTION

Through precise monitoring of every production phase, from design to supplier selection, we aim to maximize quality and reduce running and maintenance costs. This strategy enables us to offer competitive products without sacrificing their durability and reliability.

DEVELOPMENT OF CUSTOMER-FOCUSED PRODUCTS

We develop vehicles that respond to the market’s specific demands, with effective solutions for every operating scenario. Our priority is to ensure customer satisfaction by offering highly flexible, functional products.

SAFETY AND COMFORT

The safety of the operators who use our vehicles is central to our design process. We work to develop vehicles that not only comply with safety and ergonomics standards but actually improve them, while also increasing overall comfort and reducing workplace risks. This includes attention to the ease of use of our products, to ensure that every aspect is user-friendly and accessible to their operators.

These principles guide all our research and development projects, reinforcing our commitment to railway industry innovation and excellence.

Research for sustainability: hybrid and electric vehicles

In the transition to greater sustainability, SRT leads the way in the development of solutions that significantly reduce the railway industry’s environmental impact. Our Colmar electric shunters and the hybrid DHS wagon play a central role in this transformation, offering outstanding performance with an uncompromising focus on the environment.

Colmar electric shunters

Colmar electric shunters are designed to offer a more efficient, environment-friendly alternative to traditional diesel locomotives. With the following benefits, they are an excellent choice for modern railway operations:

  • Superior performance: the electric motor provides more direct, efficient power transmission, surpassing combustion engines in terms of efficiency.
  • Lower maintenance costs: less routine maintenance is required, with no need for engine oil and filters, further reducing costs.
  • Low noise: vibrations and noise are both reduced, meaning better operating comfort and less noise pollution.

Hybrid DHS: innovation and autonomy

Our DHS Hybrid is a further step forward in sustainable innovation. This hybrid rail vehicle is capable of all-electric operation, providing a flow of 800 m3/hour of material with zero emissions. This makes it ideal for jobs in sensitive areas where reducing emissions and noise is crucial.
